Now that I’m retired from college teaching, I’m available to do clinics, workshops and in-service days working with music teachers and/or student ensembles. I’m also available to clinic instrumental or vocal ensembles preparing for adjudication festivals.
I bring to my workshops, clinics, and in-service day sessions the varied life experiences of a master teacher, composer, arranger, artist level performer, adjudicator, and author of unique books on phrasing and conducting. I am experienced in all disciplines both professionally and with student groups including: Band, Orchestra, Choir, Jazz Choir, and Jazz Ensemble.
My presentations can be specifically designed to meet the interests of the local music faculty. I recommend a minimum of one half-day session, but have done workshops as long as two days with student ensembles as well as teachers.
All my presentations focus on teaching expressive playing and developing the necessary musical imagery to accomplish these expressive performance goals.
My fee for these services is negotiable and travel expenses will be added to the fee if applicable. I will provide all lecture or performance materials for the event as needed.
I live in central New Jersey and I’m within commuting distance to both the greater New York City and Philadelphia areas.

"On behalf of the York Symphonic Band, please accept my warmest thank you for your terrific clinic last Friday. What a thrill! Students are still buzzing about your book and I know many will continue to talk of that event for years to come. You were most informative, presented your ideas in a positive manner, and we all learned from your excellent insights on phrasing. You raised the band's performance level to new dimensions. Thanks. I hope you enjoyed this experience as much as I. If you find yourself in the Elmhurst area, please contact me or drop in. "
